With respect to zoning and land use matters, The West Firm, PLLC has represented many businesses, landowners, municipalities and industrial operators on many controversial projects seeking local zoning approvals, including special use permits, site plan and subdivision approvals, use and area variances and non-conforming use determinations, or an exemption from the local zoning laws. The Firm assists its clients with assembling project proposals that comply with the community’s character and local planning requirements, while also satisfying the project’s requirements. The Firm also has strong relationships with environmental and technical consultants, such as engineers, surveyors and planners, that assist the Firm throughout the planning process to ensure that the project is compliant from a scientific perspective.
Additionally, the Firm’s attorneys frequently appear on behalf of the Firm’s clients at public hearings and zoning and planning board meetings to provide assistance with educating the local community regarding the project as well as provide the Firm’s expertise on the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act to ensure that the project’s development will progress. The Firm is also equipped to represents its clients in commencing or defending against law suits, including Article 78 proceedings, that challenge the planning and/or zoning board’s decision relative to the project.
